Elsye Harwood is a teacher at a secondary school in the UK. She spends her time trying to motivate and enthuse students to get GCSEs and A levels in History and Classics.
She’s always had a vivid imagination and as a child would tell herself stories rather then read the books from school.
After honing her story telling by telling her nieces and nephew scary stories, she used this creativity to teach history. She soon earned a reputation for her gory and vivid accounts of historical events and the creepy ghost stories she told at the end of term.
In the last few years she’s taken to writing historical fantasy, which she sees as an extension of her role as a teacher. In her writing she aims to bring the past to life as accurately as possibly whilst combining it with an entertaining, if fantastical story.
She believes we find it easier to acquire knowledge if we’re entertained so she hopes that people will learn something whilst enjoying an engaging and diverting tale.
Elsye lives in Kent with her husband and various critical moggies who like to sit on the keyboard and create their own master pieces which they assure her are miles better than anything she can ever produce. But that’s cats for you, they like to keep the humans in their place.
